Christmas Stockings

The coming of the winter season brings with it unparalleled zest and vigor for it's the perfect time to indulge in various festive activities. When we think of Christmas, we can't afford to miss out on Christmas Stockings, as they constitute to be an important part of Christmas Dress Accessories. Literally speaking, a Christmas stocking refers to an empty sock or sock-shaped bag that children in the United States hang near the front door of their house during the Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus can fill it different varieties of gifts such as small toys, candy, fruits and chocolates. These small items are often referred to as stocking stuffers or fillers. However, this tradition varies from one region to another.
When we think of the Popular Christmas Stockings, different interpretations have been attributed to it. A look at the history of Christmas Stockings reveals many interesting facts that led to its origin and made it an important part of Christmas Dresses. Facts indicate that the Dutch introduced the tradition of Christmas stocking in America. It started during the 16th Century, when children in Holland would leave their clogs near the hearth which was further filled with straw for the reindeers or donkeys. In this case, special mention needs to be made of Sinterclass who according to Dutch mythological stories who leave sweet treats for children.

While others believe that in Puerto Rico, children put flowers in small boxes and placed them under their beds in mark respect to the Three Kings. And in Italy children leave their shoes out the night before Epiphany, January 5, for La Befana to come and in France, the kids place their shoes as a part of Unique Christmas Stockings, by the fireplace.
